Romeo and Juliet Semantic field badge

Shakespeare puts a semantic field around Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. Some of the reasons why I think there is a semantic field around Romeo in the play are because every thing that happened makes it feel as if it is Romeo’s destiny. For example the coincidence that happened in Act I, Scene v of the play where, out of all the people in the world, the servant who had the list for the Capulet party found Romeo to ask him to read the list because the Capulet servant could not read. Also in the movie the Artist (Baz luhramann) kept in the movie a vital part which was a important coincidence that changed everything but because it was in the modern day Baz luhramann put it on a TV rather then a serving man finding Romeo.

Surprisingly there where many more of these vital coincidences, for example when Romeo had a dream that the party he was going to was going to lead to his death but he is still going to go because he feels as if it is his destiny to go to the party so he does not fight it and just goes with it. In the both the play and the movie it really does make an atmosphere of mystery and meaning at the same time. In order to strengthen this semantic field, Shakespeare uses metaphors a example of this is when Romeo talks as if he was a ship because he says things such as “but he hath the steerage of my course direct my sail!” In that same speech by Romeo he is trying to say that he feels as if god is guiding him and stirring him towards his fiat which creates a semantic field.

In addition to this There is one last thing which creates the semantic field around Romeo this is that at the very beginning of the play in the prologue it says “where two star crossed lovers take there life’s” this creates a semantic field because it makes it feel as if it is fate and that means that it is going to be his fait to die with Juliet this creates a strong but simple semantic field.
And that is why I think that Romeo has a semantic field around him in the play.

Romeo and Juliet act 1 scene 4

Act 1 scene 4 summary

Benvolio talks to Romeo about going to the party and wearing masks.
Then Romeo talks about how up set and depressed he is in my different for example he says “the boat will sink because he is as heavy as led” in that speech he is saying how depressed he is and how love has hurt him so much.
Which Is not very good considering that Benvolio is trying to get him to fall in love it just makes it even more menacing for Benvolio
Then Romeo starts talking about how he had a dream about the party and it was where something very bad happened and it lead to the death of Romeo. But Romeo felt as if it was his destiny so he decided to still go to the party at the capulets house.

Romeo and Juliet prologue

Prologue

Two households, both alike in dignity
(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene),
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, naught could remove,
Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage—
The which, if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

Transulations of prologue

Tow families both the same in status
In a place called Verona where this story is set
From old grudges brakes out a fight from families
Where the people pick sides and blood will be spilt
In the tow families each a child will be born
And they will truly love each outher for ever
But the fight is to strong so they take there own life’s
There death stopped the fight between families
And made love and peace between them once more
But this love did not stay strong for long
So there death did not stop the rage which stayed forever in there families
And that will be what comes fourth on this stage
And if you have attended listen carefully
But for what you miss sight will tack up

The end

The time had come. It was the 2060 Olympics in England. It was set in the great gravitational arena, which was the first of its kind since the grate revolution. This arena was like no other it had only the newest of technology and only the best of artificial intelligence. The holographic clock just struck one for the race to begin. I stared long and hard at the robots but I slowly began to notice that they where all jerking monotonously. I knew that something was wrong. Suddenly the gravitational field of they arena male functioned and it flickered over and over again we all started to float and I did not know what to do!

Suddenly everything stopped it was like time itself was a frozen fragment in the mists of space then it happened the thing which was about to change my life. Everything went black I moved around trying to tell myself that it was just a dream but I knew in my hart that it was not. I saw a slight glow a head of me I ran towards it in hope of finding my home but no instead I was greeted with a mass of thick mist then it came to me I knew where I was. It is said that it would only happen once every millennium on this planet the chosen one would be sent to the underworld. It was strange I felt as if I had been hear before and I started to lose my fear of what had just happened believing that I was sent here for a good reason. I briefly remembered a old story about the dark city deep in the hart of the underworld. Through the thick blanket of pollution deep in the hart of the underworld lays the dark city, which was made with only the darkest of evil, it was said that in the hart of the dark city livid the dark lord of death who wore a dark black suit inlayed with silk dyed blood red with his enemy’s blood. He was the creature who abused technology and combined it with pure evil. He created and done some horrible things in his life, every one knew that this was no man to mess with.

So now I knew I needed to go to that city it is the only place that hope is still left. I only have a small chance using the little hope left which is slowly decaying the more time I spend in this dark damp place I need to mack my way beneath the dark city. It is said that there is kept the amulet of reality that is the only thing in this reality of misery which has a chance of taking me back home.

I made my way through the decaying dead body’s smothered over the ground. There it was the dark city it looked just like the story said it was like the buildings there selfs where shadows of all the trapped and tormented souls that the dark lord of Death killed. Suddenly my body filled with depression and terror of the thought that if I fail to get that amulet my soul would be tormented for the rest of eternity to but I had to try.

At the gate of the dark city where a group of dark nights guarding the entrance they where wearing some sort of black and red suit I had never seen anything like it. I saw by the side of the city something which looked like away into the sowers I knew that was the only safe way in so I took it. It turned out that I could tack me straight to the amulet. The room was as if it was a lost place stuck in between realities I did not seem real. And there directly in the centre of the room was the amulet of reality when I looked into the amulet it shown me many things and then I saw it my dimension I griped tightly onto the amulet and put it onto my chest thinking of home little did I know that the myth was made by the dark lord as a trap. I began to Jain pains in my body and I thought I done it but no I was trapped within the amulet by the dark lord of death and I forever more had to suffer the pains that I felt before I left my body.
