In this quote which Macbeth speaks i think that Shakespeare is trying to communicate that life is to short and is like a candle which once it burns out can not be lit again. also I think that he is saying that we have  some good moments and then we never have them again. In other words he is saying that life is not worth it so make the most of it.

If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well

It were done quickly. If the assassination

Could trammel up the consequence, and catch

With his surcease success; that but this blow

5Might be the be-all and the end-all here,

But here, upon this bank and shoal of time,

We’d jump the life to come. But in these cases

The linguistic technique that macbeth or Shakespeare has used in this play is dramatic irony because we know what macbeth is speaking about and what he means but the rest of the characters in the play do not know
